GAYA (BIHAR) – Marking the beginning of a high-profile three-day state visit to India, Vietnamese President To Lam arrived in Gaya on Tuesday to offer prayers at the UNESCO World Heritage Mahabodhi Temple. This visit—Lam’s first to India since his election—underscores the deep civilizational and Buddhist links between the two nations.

President Lam was received at the Gaya airport by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and other senior state officials. The arrival was marked by a blend of diplomatic protocol and spiritual reverence.

“The spiritual, cultural, and heritage city of Gaya Ji warmly honours the arrival of the esteemed President of Vietnam. This historic arrival will undoubtedly take already deep India-Vietnam relations to new heights,” Chief Minister Choudhary shared on social media platform X.

During his time in Gaya, President Lam engaged in several spiritual activities:

  • Bilateral Talks: Wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House, focusing on defense, trade, and the 10th anniversary of the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
  • Presidential Meeting: A formal meeting with President Droupadi Murmu.
