Safran Inks Deal with Uni Tritech: LEAP Engine Components to be Manufactured in Karnataka

DHARWAD / NEW DELHI — Global aerospace giant Safran Aircraft Engines has entered into a strategic partnership with Uni Tritech Pvt. Ltd. (a Neterwala Group firm) to manufacture critical components for the world-renowned CFM LEAP engine programme.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) marks a significant expansion of India’s aerospace footprint, shifting focus toward high-precision metallurgy and advanced casting.

Manufacturing in Dharwad

Under the new agreement, Uni Tritech will produce aluminum investment cast parts at its state-of-the-art facility in Dharwad, Karnataka. These components are essential for:

  • LEAP-1A Engines: Powering the Airbus A320neo family.
  • LEAP-1B Engines: Powering the Boeing 737 MAX.

Precision Engineering & Metallurgy

The production process in Dharwad will go beyond simple casting. The components will undergo:

  1. Investment Casting: A specialized process used for creating complex, high-precision parts.
  2. Precision Machining: Meeting the ultra-tight tolerances required for jet propulsion.
  3. Specialized Treatment: Ensuring the parts meet the extreme safety and certification standards of new-generation commercial aircraft.

A ‘Resilient’ Global Supply Chain

This deal makes Uni Tritech Safran’s first aluminum foundry partner in India. Dominique Dupuy, VP of Purchasing at Safran, noted that this collaboration is a key step in “strengthening the resilience and diversity” of Safran’s global supply chain.

For the Neterwala Group, this validates India’s capability in advanced metallurgy. “We are proud to contribute to the growth of a globally competitive aerospace ecosystem,” said Kuldeep Bhan, Group President at Neterwala Group.
