Sanchar Sathi App: Protests and Government Response

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia responded to questions raised by Congress MP Deepender Hooda regarding the Sanchar Sathi app. During this, he clarified in the Lok Sabha about the mandatory installation of the Sanchar Sathi app on new smartphones and the potential for snooping.

According to him, anyone can keep the app if they wish, or delete it. The Sanchar Sathi portal was launched in 2023, and the Sanchar Sathi app was launched in 2025. Through this, anyone can report mobile phone theft or fraud. This portal has received 200 million hits and 15 million app downloads.
